First I would like to give thanks to the teachers who have contributed and are contributing to my development in yoga and also to my wife Ivana for her support.
As with other activities that had a major influence on my life, the beginning of my yoga journey came unexpected and out of the blue. In 2000 in Hong Kong where I was living, I attended a yoga class on a friend’s recommendation. It was a dynamic asana class in which I had a good physical workout that I had experienced from other forms of exercise, and yet now felt relaxed and peaceful. It was like my body was laughing inside.
This lightness and peacefulness were so powerful that I started a regular practice in 2003, mainly under the guidance of an Indian teacher Master Kamal. I also had the opportunity to meet other senior teachers and I was able to try various styles of yoga (Hatha yoga including Pranayama, Kundalini yoga, Bhakti yoga and a few different meditation techniques). At this time my practice was mainly Vinyasa flow and Pranayama.
In Feb 2006 my wife and myself attended a Pranayama and meditation retreat in Thailand. There we met our current teacher, Paul Dallaghan. The retreat mainly consisted of Pranayama and Ashtanga yoga, which was completely new to me. After the retreat both of us realised that this was the path that we wanted to continue on.
Since then I have been studying and practicing under the guidance of Paul and other great teachers I have had the opportunity to meet. Practicing yoga has changed my life in many ways and it continues to fill it with balance, vitality, inner strength and good physical condition.
